“The satnav doesn’t work there”, experienced shoemakers told her. “And you don’t speak Italian.” Nele Content set off anyway. Today, so many years later, she’s still collaborating with the family workshops in Italy that she found at that time. And she still doesn’t speak Italian.
Being free to do her own thing. That’s what drives Nele Content. And she wants the same freedom for anyone who wears her shoes and bags. It’s less a clothing style or lifestyle that connects them, more a craving for freedom. Nele designs shoes that fit with life. Shoes to walk in, to stride in, to discover and to dance in. Shoes and bags that always look elegant, and that stand out due to their modest strength.
CREATION AND DESIGN
The uniqueness of a female foot takes centre stage in the Atelier Content design process. For Nele Content, with each and every collection designing shoes is about puzzling over subtle compositions of shapes, colours and textures on the foot. A strap at exactly the right height, seams in the right place, high-quality materials on state-of-the-art lasts. As a fashion designer who designed for shoe brands for years, Nele knows exactly what to do. Each of her designs is made in Italy by craftspeople that share the same expertise.
ITALIAN CRAFTSMANSHIP
Our shoes and bags are handmade in small family workshops in Italy’s Marche region. There’s a huge amount of work involved, because dozens of painstaking, expert steps go into creating the perfect shoe. All that stitching, polishing and nailing is done with great care, passion and know-how, by craftspeople who have been handing down the craft to one another for generations. What’s more, our shoes and bags are only made with locally tanned leather of the highest quality. And you feel that. Day after day, year after year.
